The Creative Act, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi

How do you create a space for visitors to contemplate the idea of performance?

The Creative Act was the second major exhibition of artworks from the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi collection.

Client: Department of Culture & Tourism – Abu Dhabi
Event: The Creative Act, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi
Date: 2017
Venue: Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi

Held at the Manarat Al Saadiyat, it presented works from more than 25 global artists.

DCT Abu Dhabi appointed Projex to build two separate exhibition areas for this prestigious show that explored the related themes of performance, process and presence through a variety of mediums.

In the first gallery, seven distinct rooms were each given their own unique feel with enclosed ceilings, detailed showcases and custom-built furniture.

A large installation by renowned artist Anish Kapoor was surrounded by recessed seating that was built into the walls to allow the visitor to sit, relax and study the art.

The second gallery was a dedicated area for artist Anri Sala, with an exploration of sound and vision entitled Ravel Ravel and Unravel.
