Salama Bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship

How do you transform an empty warehouse into a cutting-edge exhibition?

Projex were appointed by the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation to build a spectacular exhibition.

The exhibition design was by a group of Italian architects, historians and urban designers known as the Milk Train.

Client: Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation
Event: Salama Bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship
Date: 2016
Venue: Warehouse 421, Abu Dhabi

The exhibition aimed to give an insight into the artists involved in the Salama Bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship.

Projex were proud to be involved with such a creative, forward-thinking project.

Projex were given just two and a
half weeks to
transform an
empty warehouse
into an innovative
exhibition of
emerging artists.

Customised installations accommodated the artists’ work and columns hosted media, sculptures and paintings.

A long communal table displayed drawings, documents and photos.

The space’s industrial, artisanal feel had a hidden lighting system that transformed the space at night.

The result was rough-edged, creative and authentic, a fitting setting for these new, raw talents.
