  • Client: TCA – Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority
  • Event: Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2014
  • Date: 05 -08 November 2014
  • Venue: Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi

As the main contractor Projex was responsible, in partnership with TCA, for the delivery of the overall event including: – Overall event design, design and management of the VIP reception. – Fabrication and installation of each gallery including lighting and gallery walls. – Production and implementation of all graphic signage. – Traffic management. – Stage management and fabrication of the auditorium. – Design and fabrication of VIP majlis. – Event lighting. – Supply of event furniture.

This year’s show was the first in which all 45 galleries, spread over 4000 m2, were housed in the Manarat Al Saadiyat galleries 2 and 3.
This was done by breaking the wall down between these two galleries to create one art fair inside the Manarat, creating a superb gallery ambiance.

There was also a record number of Beyond pieces, a total of 14. 9 of which were ‘Beyond’ and the other 5 were ‘Beyond the Manarat’. These included providing a concrete base for the striking Subodh Gupta, which is a bronze sculpture of the Mona Lisa.
We also provided support and installation for the the neon piece by Shilpa Gupta ‘Today Will End’ which was positioned on the roof of the Manarat.

A wooden platform and room were provided for the Francois Morellet art piece, based on the feeling of a harbour with a lighting effect.
The outside majlis was twice the size of last years and provided breathtaking views of the Saadiyat beach and the St Regis hotel.

This year there was a permanent build replacement for the Artyfact and library. This was designed by a locally based design company called ‘ Anarchitect‘ lead by designers Jonathan and Tarik, whose concept we built and brought to life. This design is now a permanent feature at the Atrium within the Manarat.

The end result – a hugely exciting and triumphant project in which Projex are very proud to be involved with.
